Airlines

Currently, the passenger and cargo carriers at Chengdu are mainly   Air  China  and Sichuan Airlines based on Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, some other domestic airlines like Eastern Airlines, Southern Airlines, Hong Kong Dragon Air, and some foreign airlines like Thai Airlines, Korea Asian Airlines, Macau Airlines and Singapore Silk Airlines.

The airplanes are mainly Boeing 747, 757, 737 and Airbus 340, 321, 320 and other larger and medium jet planes. The passenger occupancy is 62% and cargo shipment rate is 58%, with abundant carrying capacities, being able to provide customers with mixed shipment of passenger and cargo or chartered cargo flights.

1      International Flights

10 direct flights have been opened to international cities like Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Katmandu, Osaka, Paris and Kuala Lumpur. In the coming three years, new flights to North America, India, Turkey, Middle East and Europe will be opened to become the “New Silk Route”. Flights to Japan, Vietnam and Bangkok will be expanded and improved. Simultaneously, the city is applying for the fifth flight rights so that the planes of the third country could load and unload cargo at Chengdu.

2       Domestic Flights

At present, more than 200 domestic lines are in service from Chengdu to Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and other major Chinese cities.

The Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is open 24 hours whole year, furnished with primary and secondary radar and Rank II blind landing system.

In year 2004, the total handling capacity of passenger went to 11 million person-time, the freight throughput reached 280,000 tons, with 110,400 landings and takeoffs, which ranks the No.1 among the ten major airports of western China.
